The latest Banksy COVID-19 tags erased from the London Tube train

LONDON (AP) – Even if you’re Banksy, tagging is banned on the London Underground.

Transport for London, the transport agency for the London metropolitan area, removed the latest work by the acclaimed street artist on the subject COVID-19 from one of his trains, erasing a visual warning about the dangers of skipping face covers.

Banksy uploaded a 59-second video to her Instagram and YouTube pages on Tuesday that showed her spray paint on a Circle Line train.

Dressed in a white boiler suit, a mask, glasses, and an orange jacket with the words “stay safe” on the back, he got on the train under the guise of being a maintenance worker.

Then he carved his characteristic rats into the discreet corners of a train car. A memorable image shows an unhealthy rat with a runny nose and squirting drops through a window.

Transport officials for London say the works were withdrawn due to a strict anti-graffiti policy. But they hope Banksy can be persuaded to tag again.

“We would like to offer Banksy the opportunity to make a new version of his message for our clients in a suitable place,” the agency said in a statement.
