‘The Late Show With Stephen Colbert’ squeezes the truth out of Jon Stewart – Deadline

Former Daily program host Jon Stewart stopped The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to talk about, what else, politics. And naturally the conversation turned to the 2020 presidential race.

Stewart confessed that “Biden was not my boy. It wasn’t even in the top four.

But instead of completely firing the former vice president, Stewart said he thought more about the alleged Democratic candidate and her experiences with him. While he admitted he is not crazy about Biden’s “Uncle Joe” schtick and his lapses in fond memories of Corn Pop, Stewart said Biden brings a greater truth to the table.

“All those kinds of things … I feel like that’s not the core of who that guy really is,” Stewart said. He claimed that recent events demonstrated: “We are a country in terrible danger. We have pain. American Exceptionalism: The blindfold is off and we see ourselves as we really are.”

That means that when Stewart looked past the schtick, he saw a man “who knows who he is.” So Stewart said, he believes that “right now this, the country needs is a leader of humility.”
