There’s something about celebrity home visits that excites me. I love sitting quietly in my little apartment criticizing (and occasionally, but not often, praising) the out-of-budget decor styles of the rich and famous, and Kendall Jenner’s Architectural Summary tour at home was one I I could not Wait to see. The model opened her cozy (Read: at least 20 times the size of my apartment). The Los Angeles house so we could all see exactly how he lives. And while I was so Willing to criticize Kendall Jenner’s house (sorry, not sorry), I must say I was pleasantly surprised by how she, and her team of interior designers, decorated the huge space.
Unlike Gigi Hadid’s home décor style, which, if you haven’t seen it yet, take a look at her Instagram to see, um, cool photos, Kylie Jenner has kept things pretty neutral with fun pops of color here and there. She is said in the Architectural Summary video that prefers part of its decoration to be simple because it likes really colorful art. So instead of filling your house with a ton of bright, maximalistic pieces, you also balanced it with neutral elements. And frankly, it works quite well.
One room that is definitely worth highlighting in the house is Jenner’s “formal” living room. (If she has two living rooms.) Filled with neutral tones that bring a sense of calm and some pops of color along the way, the entire room is highly habitable high profile. Not only that, but it’s actually quite easy to get a similar look on your own home, if you suddenly feel inspired by Kendall Jenner’s surprisingly elegant home.
Because I have an affinity for both home décor and celebrity homes, I went ahead and bought items similar to those found in Kendall Jenner’s house. If your house or apartment needs a bit of a makeover, take a cue from the supermodel and reproduce neutral tones, then add some bright, colorful art to add some fun. It is a combination that Really It works, so you could buy the look and try it yourself. I know I plan to do it.
1. Neutral and cozy cushions
The sofas in Kendall Jenner’s formal room were covered in neutral cushions, but still cozy. Having these neutral tones in furniture can allow you to play color elsewhere if you so choose. Start with something easy, like these tufted anthropological pillows, to try it out.
2. Many coffee table books
Jenner’s coffee table was covered in coffee table books, you guessed it! They function as art pieces that are also functional books, so you might as well stock up on some.
3. A tree in a basket
You can go with a real tree or a fake tree (depending on how green your thumb is), but this Fiddle Leaf Tree is definitely a great starting point.
Next, you’ll need a fancy basket plant holder for your tree. I personally love this Anthropologie woven planter. And if you decide that you are not a plant person, you can always use it to store!
4. Launch of the geometric pattern
Kendall Jenner had a cozy geometric triangle blanket on the back of one of her sofas, and I couldn’t help but love her. This Anchal throw blanket is similar to Jenner’s and so cute.
5. Pale yellow curtains
Although I wouldn’t normally choose pale yellow curtains, they looked just as good in Jenner’s formal room. Their curtains were quite solid, but I like the idea of having a pure appearance.
6. Record Player
While Kendall Jenner had a seriously elaborate (and very cool) turntable setup, this Crosley bluetooth turntable system gives you a similar vibe for less $$$.
7. Minimalist vases
Above Jenner’s fireplace were a couple of simple but beautiful minimalist vases, and I think they are definitely worth having in any home.
8. Shaggy White Carpet
It had a little white lint mat when I first went to college, and now Kendall Jenner makes me want to put it away again. This luxury Pottery Barn rug is definitely an upgraded version (but not too expensive) alternative to a super cheap option.
9. Great bright art
As you’ll see on the tour of Kendall Jenner’s house, she loves big, shiny prints and it’s very easy to look the same. I personally like all the colors and the Andy Warhol style of this “Life’s a Party” print.
Jenner’s art also included the words GOOD and BAD, so you can always go the route of a colorful letterpress if you want.
10. cute bar decor
Kendall Jenner had one sweet Bar setup, inspired by her mother’s iconic bars, apparently, and I immediately noticed an elegant golden cocktail shaker. This one from CB2 looks similar to Jenner’s.
Jenner’s bar had a marble splash guard, but most of us are working with a shelf in our kitchen or a simple bar cart, not a full bar. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t add a little marble. This marble wine holder is a luxury bar dream.
