The Gogoro Eeyo 1 carbon fiber electric bike is now available in the U.S.

Gogoro first introduced his new Eeyo 1 and Eeyo 1s electric bikes in May. Now, the company announces the first availability of the sleek electric bikes as customers queue to order.

After sparking an entry into the United States in the past, the measure marks Gogoro’s first sales in the United States.

While the company is likely best known for its popular 55 mph (88 km / h) electric scooters and its huge network of distributed battery exchange, Gogoro has been steadily expanding its product line for the past year.

First came a line of smaller, city-oriented electric scooters under the Viva model lineup, and now Gogoro is making its lightest vehicle yet available – the Gogoro Eeyo 1 and Carbon Fiber 1s.

Both bikes use Kevlar-reinforced carbon fiber to build a strong, open frame and stiff fork. Lack of a typical seat tube allows more space in the frame and makes it easier to pull the 27 lb (12.2 kg) bike over your shoulder. Try it with most electric bikes over 50lbs (23+ kg)!

The main difference between the two bikes is that the Gogoro Eeyo 1 features an alloy seatpost, handlebars and rims, while the Gogoro Eeyo 1 is completely carbon fiber.

Both bikes run on Gogoro’s Eeyo SmartWheel, an all-in-one transmission system that encapsulates the battery, motor, torque sensor, and smart connectivity inside the small rear hub. Along with SmartWheel there is a Gates Carbon Drive system that uses a carbon fiber reinforced strap instead of a chain for smoother, quieter, and maintenance-free pedaling.

The motor drives the bike up to 19 mph (30.5 km / h) in the US, or slightly slower than 15 mph (25 km / h) in the EU.

The Gogoro Eeyo 1 also offers an innovative charger mount that performs double duty, displays the bike, and keeps it charged. The standard charger is equally innovative in that it uses a flexible band that fits around the motor housing to start charging. No more games with little charger connectors!
