“Health officials, in collaboration with Alberta Agriculture and Forestry, have launched a public health check to determine the source of the virus and to make sure there is no spread. The Government of Alberta will work closely with Alberta Health Services, the Public Health Agency of Canada, and other Canadian partners. ”

At a press conference on Wednesday afternoon, Hinsho said the man had gone to the hospital hospital and found a positive case after being tested for COVID-19. She said it is standard practice for hospitals to be tested for influenza for Covid-1 tests.

“In fact, this person was recommended to stay at home for 10 days. So essentially (they) followed all the instructions that they would have, if this was a covid case, which, thankfully, is also appropriate to prevent the further spread of influenza, ”he said.

Since the person initially tested positive for influenza, further tests were performed to determine the specific strain.

Authorities are still investigating the source of the virus but have no link to the slaughterhouses, Hinsho said.

She said the virus is not easily transmitted from one person to another and while there have been cases of contact between two people, it has not spread to the wider community.

Hinaho and Lehmann said the first case of this type of swine flu in Canada was reported in 2005 and was only the 27th globally.
