The first Caribbean cruise since the epidemic began, reported positive Covid-19 test

(CNN) – A Covid-19 Beak is the last thing the cruise industry needs as it lightens back in the Caribbean.

Yet on Wednesday, a passenger on Sea Dream Yacht Club’s Sea Dream 1 received an initial positive test result for the Covid-19, according to Jean Sloan, a senior reporter on cruise and travel on the Points Guy aboard the ship.
CNN Travel reached Sea Dream on Wednesday afternoon for confirmation. The company said it would issue a statement but did not release it to CNN until 6:30 p.m.

The Cedrium 1 is the first cruise ship to sail the Caribbean since the oceanic epidemic began.

Intercom result of positive test declared

Sloan reported that the captain informed passengers of the initial positive test on the ship’s intercom system before lunch on Wednesday.

He said passengers were instructed to return to their cabins and stay there in solitude.

The ship was anchored near Union Island in Grenadines at the time of the announcement, according to Sloan, and immediately sailed back to Barbados.

The impact of the incident on the industry will “depend on how this situation arises in the coming hours and days,” Sloane told CNN Travel via email on the board of his cabin. “But it’s not a big development for the cruise industry. I think the hope is that the rigor that Sidrium is testing will keep Covid away from his ship.”

Passengers were tested before boarding and before boarding both ships, Sloane said.

“And Sidrum was also testing the passengers on the four-day trip.” “We had to be re-tested today. Most of the lines have a tougher test plan than they were discussing for their resumes.”

Traveling from Barbados

While announcing the winter voyage from Barbados, which began in November, the line relied on its safety precautions, with Caribbean boats following the summer’s successful follow-up to the Sydrome in Norway.

“Since being the first luxury line to resume travel, we have learned many lessons and we are confident that we will be able to provide a safe environment without sacrificing luxury,” said Andreas Bryanstad of Sidrim in a September announcement outlining the trip to Barbados.

In addition to Barbados, the tour program includes calls to St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Grenada, which are open to all Americans.

Less than 250 guests

Cidrim’s ships, which the company calls “Superihats”, have 56 statorrooms, with a capacity of 112 guests and 95 crew.

Carrying less than 250 guests out of U.S. waters has led to U.S. efforts to control syphilis. Can perform prevention commands outside centers and around cruising.

The CDC recently issued a “Framework for Conditional Sailing Orders for Cruise Ships.”

The order, which applies to cruise ships in U.S. territorial waters with a capacity to carry at least 250 passengers, is considered a temporary step toward resuming cruising.
