The first Apple Play and Watch Series 6 teardown shows what has changed

iFixit After adding new sensors to enable the Blood Oxygen Tracking King, the Pulse Series 6 today took off today. There’s also a large chunk of hardware that has disappeared from the Watchtower: Tech Force is used to enable touch.

Force Touch lets you recognize the screen pulse and the force of the screen you use daily, and has been a part of the Apple pulse since the first model was released in 2015. But the latest version of OS X, Force Touch, removes the Force Touch from previous models, and now it’s clear why: it’s not part of the Series 6 and Watch.

Apple’s equivalent feature, known as 3D Touch, was for phones starting in 2015 with the iPhone 6S.

The smartwatch also has a larger battery and a larger Taptic engine than its predecessor. According to iFixitThe 44mm Apple Pulse Series 6 has a 3.5 percent larger battery, and the 40mm battery has an 8.5 percent increase. Apple Play said this is a significant difference for both sizes. The Series 6 and Watch have the same 18-hour battery life as the Series 5, with the latest models having a brighter screen than their predecessors, which may be one reason the battery has been upgraded.
