The feature of smart beat and focal isolation of Djay becomes a standalone app

Algoriddim today launches a spin-off of its popular Djay app. With the new Mac app, called Neural Mix Pro, you can isolate and extract different parts of a song, such as their drum beat or vocals. You can then export those segments and use them for DJing or remixing with the app or device of your choice.

Neural Mix was introduced in June in the Djay app for iPhones and iPads. The feature should use AI to make the app instantly delete various parts of whatever song is playing, allowing you to mute or isolate the song, the drums, and any instruments in between. It is a very powerful tool for DJing, especially for amateurs who may not have their own library of isolated tribes from different tracks.

The new app transforms Neural Mix into a standalone tool, without the ability to build DJs. You upload one song at a time, and you can then select which elements you want to isolate. From there, you can select segments of the song to speed up, reduce or shift and then export your selection.

I’m far from an expert in DJs as a music production, so take my impressions with a grain of salt. But the app is really fun to play with for a full amateur, and the feature is surprisingly effective at what it does. It’s certainly not perfect – instruments often bleed into the song, and isolated elements can thin or sound around the edges – but it can work perfectly, and I can imagine those rougher edges drowning when they are mixed with another track instead of listening to yourself.

I tried it out on tracks from The Beatles, The Weeknd, and more and was able to get decent results. It is worth noting that while the app pulls apart every track you plug into it, you may soon face legal restrictions if you choose to publish those clips.

Neural Mix Pro is available through the Mac App Store. You can play for free with just about anything in the app to get a sense of how it works. However, if you want to export audio, you need to purchase the full app for $ 50.
