Sarvesh Kumar was arrested for beheading his 17-year-old daughter while he was on his way to Hardoi district police station on Wednesday night.
“He was going to the police station to confess to what he did,” a Hardoi police spokesman told CNN on Friday.
The spokesman added, “He told police he saw his daughter with a young man and he believed she was watching, which made him angry because he was in front of her.”
Kumar, a vegetable seller from Pandetara village, was walking a mile from his house to the police station when passersby alerted the police, who stopped him and started shooting him.
During this time, according to a police spokesman, Kumar told officers about his daughter’s affair, she found him alone at home, locked him in a room and cut off his head using a knife.
“Considering the situation he was calm. He was not crying or crazy. While the policemen were talking to him, they told him to put his daughter’s head on the ground and sit down, which he heard without arguing back,” a police spokesman told CNN. Stated.
The spokesperson added that Kumar is currently in custody where his interrogation is ongoing. A list of charges will be prepared once the investigation is completed. He will have access to a public prosecutor once he is formally charged, and will remain in custody until a hearing is held, police said.
