The Dodgers officially established their 60-man player pool with a few surprises.

The Dodgers kept us waiting, but they finally announced their (roughly) full group of 60 players for the 2020 season. That group of players included a few surprises, including plenty of receivers to choose from.

The new roster rule for the 2020 season includes 60 players to account for the lack of minor leagues and maintain a comprehensive roster in the big leagues. The Dodgers, along with any other team, will be able to keep 30 men on their roster for the first two weeks of the season. After those two weeks, that number drops to 28. After a month, the roster will settle at 26 players for the rest of the year. Players not listed are likely to play in a closed facility, but off-site.

For the Dodgers, there were no surprise signings or late additions, as many expected. Fans hoped they would increase their depth of capture by giving up Russell Martin, but that has yet to happen. There is still a chance that Martin could be signed.

The list of 40 men

All members of the Dodgers’ current roster of 40 players are currently involved in the player pool, as expected. Those names can be found here.

The surprises

There weren’t many surprises here, other than the fact that there was no recent draft pick. That could change once signature drafts become official. The addition of Diego Cartaya and Rocky Gale to the capture team was more than expected, although having many receivers makes sense.

As it stands, there are 51 players in the player pool with the first update, so things could change. We will keep this list updated.
