It’s been a tough week for anyone uploading Red Dead Online to consoles, thanks to a patch that apparently destabilized every part of the game. Rockstar has now decided to undo the patch completely, by rolling the MMO back to its previous state.
Before Thursday, Red Dead Online players had to download an update that eliminated all NPCs and beasts, made horses hoywire, made it impossible to shoot, and bizarrely, introduced an invisible bald man who ran you. The patch was lived long enough that social media sites like Reddit were filled with videos of absurd and entertaining glitches that plagued the game and ultimately made it impossible to enjoy one part of the experience. The patch was meant to solve some issues with the recent Naturalist update.
Rockstar addresses the issue by pressing the Undo button, according to an update to a support page.
“An update to Red Dead Online intended to provide security improvements and address connection errors unintentionally introduced a range of issues, including connection issues, empty spawn animals, difficulty locating Camps, entering Moonshine toilets, as well as others on PS4 and Xbox One, “page reads. “We’re back to the previous version on those platforms, originally launched on July 28.”
The rollback should hopefully stabilize the game, and Rockstar promises to erase all lingering wrinkles through future updates. Bé, keal man. We hardly knew you.
