The Denver Broncos have signed Mike Purcell to a 3-year extension

Englewood, Colo. – When John Alway told Vic Fungio in March 2019 that the team was signing defensive tackle Mike Purcell, the Denver Broncos coach said, “Be careful, you can pick them up.”

After nearly 19 months and 17 games, Purcell signed a three-year contract extension with the Broncos. Team sources said the deal is worth just 15 15 million.

Fangio predicted that one person cut 10 times by six different teams before his tenure with the Salt Lake Stallions in association with American Football.com would set aside more significant signs. His prediction has come true.

“It’s amazing, absolutely a blessing to be sure,” Purcell said Tuesday. “It’s time you think about hanging it, it’s time to move on and start a real career … but I’m glad I didn’t.”

At one point Purcell said he was “in the 200s” – and thought of putting a little weight on applying to be a firefighter. In 2017 alone, Purcell spent all the time with the San Francisco 49ers, the Rams, the Chicago Bears, the Carolina Panthers, the New England Patriots and the Kansas City Chiefs, while “my wife was pregnant with our daughter.”

Parcel, who attended high school in suburban Denver (Highlands Ranch), has started 11 games for the Broncos in the last two seasons, including all four this year. He has become a regular in his base defense, as the first reliable run-defender, but the Broncos had their first sack of the season in Week 2 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Purcell spent four seasons with 49 Cesars, including two on his practice team and two when Fangio was the team’s defensive coordinator. Fangio was also the Bears’ defensive coordinator in 2017, while Purcell was soon on his practice team.

Earlier this season, defensive end Dremont Jones said of Purcell: “Mike is giving us the same things as last year, he’ll just win like hell in a run game. He has this incredible power, the incredible ability to insult linemen and them Throw it around the field. I think Mike will keep it going. He keeps it going. I’m looking forward to seeing Mike play this year. “
