The governor of Rhode Island is facing a counterattack this week after she posed for a photo on Wine and Paint Night just days after discouraging unavoidable activities to stop the spread of the coronavirus.
Democratic Governor Gina Raymondo is seen sitting at a table in Barnaby’s public house in Pronevidas in a photo taken by Erica Ol Liveras last Friday, WLNA reported.
Ol Livares told the station that the reaction to the photo was blown out of proportion because Raymondo only took off his mask to drink his wine.
Still others felt Raymondo’s actions were hypocritical, four days ago she urged Rhode Islanders in a tweet to “stay home and wear a mask except for essential activities whenever you’re not with people you don’t live with.”
Suvin Goodman, a Providence resident, told WLNE that the governor “should not even come to an event like that.”
“You can drink wine at home. I’m Gina, an experienced wine drinker. Do it at home.” Said Goodman.

However, others thought the governor had done nothing wrong and was really helping the small business.
“Thing Livaras told the station,” The main thing is I got out of it. “Wow, she’s in a small business here and she’s supporting. “She came in. She supported. She bought wine. She engaged.”
According to state shutdown guidelines, indoor dining is allowed up to 33% of the restaurant’s seating capacity. Meanwhile, indoor entertainment facilities such as movie theaters, bowling centers and arcades, but will remain closed until December 20.
Businesses such as restaurants, bars, personal services, gyms and leisure facilities should be closed from 10pm on most days of the week and from 10:30 pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
