The death toll from the death of 5 new viruses in El Paso reached 445; The total number of infections exceeded 21,000

E.L. PASO, Texas – Health officials in El Paso reported deaths from five new coronaviruses Sunday morning, bringing the total number of epidemic deaths in the county to 445.

The health of the five who died was deteriorating. These include:

  • Man in his 50s
  • 2 women in the 60s
  • Man in his 80s
  • Man in his 90s

Health officials also reported 90 new virus cases and one additional “delayed” case by the state health department, up from 21,000 for the total number of infections since the virus broke out in March.

Of the 21,035 cases counted, the El Paso Department of Health indicated that as many as 84 percent – 17,617 people – have recovered from Covid-19 to date. However, doctors both locally and nationally have noted that some who have recovered as a result of the infection will suffer long-term health problems.

As of Sunday, there were 2,859 active virus cases in El Paso County.

The virus has also currently admitted 108 patients to the hospital, of whom 45 are listed in intensive care.
