D reform las police chief u. Renee Hall announced her resignation on Tuesday, amid fresh calls for police reform.
Hall did not cite a reason for his resignation in a letter obtained by Fox News. Calls and messages to the police department were not returned.
The announcement came shortly after the department’s post-mortem report found inconsistencies in the details of the first night of protests following the death of black man George Floyd, who died on May 25, according to a Las Morning News report.

In his letter, Hall Hall, 49, wrote that since taking office in 2017, there has been a “series of fictional events” in the city. He added that he was proud to have implemented reforms in the 1,000,000-strong department.
He wrote to me that I am proud that this department has not only faced one incredible event, but that we have also implemented decisive reforms that are clearly needed for the Dallas Police Department to meet 21st century policing goals.
He indicated that he would continue his career in law enforcement. Hall will be at the main position on November 10th. Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson said he was not surprised by her outstanding departure.
“We cannot fully rely on law enforcement to reduce crime, but we need a completely new policing strategy and fresh eyes that can help reverse the unfortunate and unacceptable rise in violent crime in our city,” he said in a statement.
Hall became Dallas’ top cop after spending 18 years with the Detroit Police Department. During his time as chief, a Dallas police officer was convicted of murder for shooting his neighbor and the city became embroiled in violent crime.
A report released by the department last year found that he was struggling with operational plans, communications and maintaining a central command structure during Flood’s post-mortem demonstrations. In addition, Hall clashed with city leaders over how police responded to the rallies.
Hundreds of people were arrested, including marchers on the city’s bridges, just dropping the charges against them.

Upon arrival in Dallas, Hall also had to react to breaking up well-chosen and skilled commanders, the newspaper reported.
His departure is the latest in a series of resignations of police chiefs in major cities across the country.
Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best was recently ousted by efforts by city leaders to cut the police budget. Rochester, NY, Police Chief LaRon Singlatory said Tuesday he would leave the department later this month following criticism of his control over Daniel Prude’s death.
