The Cufflin Ranch Fire in NV grows to 1,500 acres: what we know

A fire in the Cufflin Ranch area in West Reno has burned 1,500 acres and endangered 500 structures.

The blaze, known as the Pinehaven Fire, began Tuesday afternoon.

It is one of four fires in the area, including two near Doyle and Chilcott on the California border north of Reno and another small fire stopped by the crew in Spanish Springs.

The wind is also in high advisory effect for large Reno, Carson City and Minden areas along with Virginia City.

Electricity has been cut in the Cufflin Ranch area. Cufflin Ranch Elementary is also on the code yellow lockdown.

How big is the fire in Reno?

The Pinehaven Fire has grown to 1,500 acres.

Where is the Pinehaven Fire now?

The Pinhaven Fire is burning in the Kaugh Flynn Ranch area, but it has now spread to the valley areas near Gibraltar Drive and McCarran Boulevard.

The fire is also affecting the following areas.

  • Cross the boulevard
  • Cashill Boulevard
  • Skyline Boulevard

Drivers should avoid these areas.

Which employees are fighting the fire?

The Reno Fire Department is receiving assistance from twenty strike teams, including the California Fire Response.

When did the Flynn Ranch fire start?

The fire broke out in West Reno around 1 a.m. Tuesday.

Have any structures been destroyed?

According to RJJ photographer Jason Bean, who is on the scene, at least five houses have burned down in the neighborhood east of McCarran Boulevard near Skyline Boulevard.

Multiple houses per bean are also burning, and strong winds are not coming. He also says firefighters tried to save the house but were evacuated before the roof collapsed.

  • Reservoir court from Bella Sierra Court and Vista View
  • Southeast of Manzanita and the area around Stanley Lake

Where can residents move?

A migration center has been set up at Red Cross Woe Shaw County Senior Center, Which in Reno 1155 e. Located at 9th st.

The center will not be able to provide shelter to the people gathering due to covid, and people must stay in their vehicles in the parking lot until further notice.

Currently, 7,100 customers are de-energized for safety after NV Energy cut off electricity in the affected areas.

Has Cufflin Ranch Elementary School been affected?

Update: The WCSDA said some students were not able to be picked up by parents due to traffic conditions caused by the fire. Students who were unable to attend are at Reno High School.

Students who go to Reno High School should be there by 4:30 p.m., and parents should bring a mask and ID to choose from.

The school is currently on a warning code yellow lockdown due to the fire.

School police are responding to the school, but currently, the school Not threatened by Blaze.

Parents are asked to choose their children.
