Netflix’s “The Crown” has found the actress who will portray Princess Diana.
Elizabeth Debicki will play the Princess of Wales in seasons 5 and 6 of “The Crown”, the series announced Sunday.
Debicki will star in a new cast for the series which includes Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth, Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret and Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip. Staunton succeeds Olivia Colman and Claire Foy in the role.

Emma Corrin plays Diana on the upcoming fourth season of the drama, but Debicki will take part in what is for sure the most dramatic chapters of the character. Seasons 5 and 6 are expected to be the last seasons of the show. No premiere date of season 4 has been announced.
“The spirit of Princess Diana, her words and her actions live in the hearts of so many,” Debicki said on Twitter. “It’s my real privilege and honor to be a part of this masterful series that has absolutely hooked me on episode one.”

Unfortunately, fans of the Netflix drama about the royal family may have to wait a little longer than normal for Season 5 to fall on the popular streaming platform. Left Bank Pictures, the company that produces ‘The Crown’, announced that, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the production of Season 5 has been postponed until June 2021, which means that the season will probably arrive in 2022.

Debicki, a 29-year-old Australian actress, is seen as a rising star after a breakout performance in Steve McQueen’s ‘Widows’. She also starred in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming thriller “Tenet.” Other credits include “The Great Gatsby,” “The Burnt Orange Heresy,” and “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.”
