The reason we are so secretive about it is because it really took a long time to clear this up. ‘Floor is Lava’ was not filmed in a studio
An amazingly fun fact about the game is that it takes place inside an out-of-order Ikea building. The creators couldn’t find a studio willing to let them fill the place with fake lava, and it was a happy circumstance that they found a suitable place.
McGrath said: “We had all of our different teams there. There was a welding shop and the foundry department and the challenge producers had a giant office that they were working on. It ended up working very well. The main stage is inside, I suppose the Ikea self-service area?
Eyal added that they cleaned the floor and built everything they needed.
Why is the course so difficult?
Of course, there was a team dedicated to planning each room and course. They were meticulous about the measurement and placement of each fixture, and conducted tests in the Ikea parking lot (in a pool) and in the building. Eyal tested the Antiques room himself and sank.
