The City of San Antonio only tests people with COVID-19 symptoms on free test sites

SAN ANTONIO – The city of San Antonio announced Sunday that its free COVID-19 test sites will only test people who experience symptoms of the virus, beginning Monday, July 6.

Free city-operated trial sites include the following: Freeman Coliseum, Kazen Middle School, and Cuellar Community Center.

Assistant City Manager Dr. Colleen Bridger said the free trial centers are for patients who may not have insurance or a primary care provider.

“Giving priority to people with symptoms helps ensure that tests are done as soon as possible and then isolate or connect them to their healthcare provider if treatment is needed,” Bridger said in a press release. “If you have insurance, contact your healthcare provider to request a test. The free trial sites are intended to provide access to those who may not have insurance or a primary healthcare provider. “

The city said in a press release that the two new locations on the south and west sides have also been added for the month of July, where free COVID-19 tests are available seven days a week from 10 am to 2 am p.m

These locations do not require an appointment and will evaluate up to 300 people per day. New testing locations include Kazen Middle School and Cuellar Community Center.
