OnePlus is working on a smartwatch and plans to release it early next year, the company’s CEO revealed on Twitter. Pete Lau has Confirmation A few months ago there were reports that the Chinese manufacturer had revived its smartwatch ambitions many years after its first attempt. In 2016, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei shared a sketch of a circular smartwatch design after already scrapping the company’s plans for wearables. Apparently, the manufacturer decided to focus on smartphones at the time and killed its non-phone projects.

Given that the company has since launched non-smartphone products – it introduced the OnePlus Buds just a few months ago, for example – it’s not hard to imagine keeping an eye on its entry into the smartwatch market. Lau did not share any details about the next wearable, however, so it is unclear whether he keeps the old circular design.
