The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports a continuing salmonella outbreak that affects more than 200 people in more than 20 states. As of this week, Oregon has the majority of cases.
The cases related to the outbreak began on dates ranging from June 19 to July 11, the CDC said. As of Thursday, the latest CDC update, Oregon had 51 cases believed to be related to the outbreak.
The Oregon Health Authority has not released any public guidance on the outbreak and said it does not plan to do so unless there is an increase in cases. The agency said CDC has been at the forefront of the outbreak as it is nationwide, but has been working closely with CDC and affected Oregon residents on the ongoing investigation.
Salmonella cases were reported at Grants Pass in late June through early July, according to the Josephine County Public Health Department.
That group of cases, believed to be related to a local restaurant called Si Casa Flores, has resulted in the hospitalization of two people. Josephine County Public Health said in a press release that he and OHA are investigating the outbreak.
The CDC said it has not identified a specific food, grocery store, or restaurant chain as the source of the infections.
