The CDC now says the mask protects wearers from Covid-19

The CDC said in its new guideline that clothing acts as a “source control” to block virus particles emitted by masked wearers and to provide “purification for personal protection”, the CDC said in its new guideline.

The new guide cites a number of examples that show that masks reduce the risk of infection or catching the virus by more than 70% in various cases. One study found that mutual mask-use helped prevent two infected hair stylists from infecting the virus for 67 clients who were subsequently interviewed. Other infected people who followed, who were wearing masks, spent more than 10 hours on flights without infection to other passengers.

In many scenes, when officials told people to wear masks, infections and deaths dropped significantly, the CDC noted.

“Adopting universal masking policies can help avoid future lockdowns, especially if combined with other non-pharmaceutical interventions such as social distance, hand hygiene and adequate ventilation,” the CDC said.

The agency cited an economic analysis which found that a 15% increase in universal masking could prevent losses of up to tr 1 trillion.

“The relationship between resource control and personal security is potentially complementary and potentially covalent, so that individual benefit increases with the increasing use of community masks,” the CDC said.

The CDC said some cloth masks are as good as surgical masks on blocked drops. Polypropylene can generate a static charge that captures particles, the CDC said, while silk removes sticky drops and is more comfortable.

The CDC said, “Multiple layers of fabric with a low thread count show better performance than single layers of low thread count fabric, in some cases filtering particles less than about 1% microns.”
