The CDC said some cloth masks are as good as surgical masks on blocked drops. Polypropylene can generate a static charge that captures particles, the CDC said, while silk removes sticky drops and is more comfortable.
The CDC said, “Multiple layers of fabric with a low thread count show better performance than single layers of low thread count fabric, in some cases filtering particles less than about 1% microns.”
