The Boston Celtics will finalize a deal to acquire Orlando Magic Guard Evan Fornier for two second-round elections ahead of Thursday’s trading deadline, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wozniacki.
Magic already trades for Nikola Vusevic and now F ourn Narier, and they entertain for fur for Aaron Gordon. The Celtics are rumored to be on Gordon.
Orlando will accumulate significant draft assets on Thursday and include young players Jonathan Isaac and Markel Fultz under long-term contracts.
F ourn Near, 28, has a career-best 19.7 points and averages 3.7 assists per game this season. He is trying out a career-best 7.2 3-pointer per competition and making 38.8% of that.
For his nine-year career, he averaged 14.4 points per game. That gives the Celtics a solid scoring option off the bench.
According to the Associated Press, the Celtics were able to take Farronier’s salary using some of the trade exceptions made in the move sent to Garden Hayward by Charlotte last year.
After this season f ourn Narier is an uncontrolled free agent.
The Celtics started the eighth Eastern Conference on Thursday with a 21-23 record, well below their expected season.
