The Big Ten will let Ohio State play for the title

Ohio State will play Northwestern in the Big Ten Championship game on December 19th.

The council will amend its six-game minimum rule to allow Ohio State to enter the title game, according to Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports. The No. 4 bookies are 5-0 and the game against Michigan on Saturday has been canceled because the Wolverines are unable to play due to COVID-19.

A minimum of six games was set before the season in the event of an outage due to the epidemic, although it is clear that the big ten schools did not expect such games to be canceled in 2020. The convention has established eight games in each of its eight-week schedule with 14 teams and only four of those 14 teams have played seven games in the first seven weeks of the season.

The state of Ohio was responsible for canceling only one of its three. He did not play against Illinois after the team tested positive for COVID-19 during Thanksgiving weekend, his game against Maryland was canceled due to COVID-19 in Maryland.

Ohio State is also the only school to have lost just one game due to its own COVID-19 positive. Every other team forced to cancel a game due to a virus has missed at least two games.

No. 12 would have played Indiana’s No. 14 Northwestern if the Ohio State title had been unsuitable for the game. The Hoosiers (6-1) lost to Ohio State earlier in the season. The win over the Bookies head meant he had to play Michigan empty on Saturday to win the Big Ten East Division title.

How it affects Ohio State’s playoff hopes

Making a Big Ten title game doesn’t do much for Ohio State’s playoff chances. The Bookies finished 4th Tuesday night after beating Michigan State and the Big Ten title game is not to be played next Saturday.

He could play No. 16 Iowa at the championship on Saturday if the Ohio State remains ineligible for the title game. The win against Iowa on December 19, more than just two places, will not be viewed differently by the committee than the win over the Northwestern team, except for the Wisconsin defeat to the Kekees on December 12.

No. 3 Clemson should stay in the top four until No. 2 beat Notre Dame and No. 6 Florida beat No. 1 Alabama, Ohio State to finish 6-0.
