The Belgian city believes the heart of their first mayor is hidden in a local fountain. Now they have got it

Perere David, the first mayor of Warewears, was found dead in a small casket inside a fountain in the heart of August, city officials said.

David ran wearwear from 1798 until his death in 1839. Officials in the 1880s decided to move his heart from the townhall where he was kept, and instead put him in a bunk inside a fountain in the city center, CNN-affiliated RTLA reported.

Since its discovery, it has been put on display in the city’s Art Museum along with documents from the archives and museum archives of Werewears City. The museum has confirmed the discovery details to CNN.

David was in charge of the city during the Belgian Revolution and during the formation of the country after the declaration of independence from the Netherlands.

He died unexpectedly at the age of 58 and according to CNN affiliated HLN the authorities decided to keep his heart, which led to the legend for decades and heard about the condition of the limb in the public fountain.
