Aztec treasure found at construction site in Mexico City
Little was known about the 4-pound gold bar used in construction in Mexico City about 40 years ago, but experts now consider the precious metal an Aztec remnant. The gold bar has long been known as the lost Aztec treasure that was stolen by Spanish conquerors about 500 years ago.
Mexican archaeologists call it the ‘Skull Tower.’ 119 more human skulls have been found from a notorious Aztec named.
According to Mexico’s National Institute of Anthropology and History (IANAH), about 4,484 skulls were previously found on the tower.
The discovery was made east of “Hui Tzompantli” near the Templo Mayor in Mexico City. In the ancient city of Tenochtitlan, Hui was the main trophy rack of human victims.
The mortared flanks the two tower racks of skeletons.

The skulls are believed to be between 1486 and 1502.

The skeleton of the victim, which was found almost from the bottom of the street. y found below the yard, including some of the women and children, and officials saw the huge pile of skulls as a sign of the power and prestige of the former Hispanic city.
After the Spanish conquerors conquered their city in 1519, they destroyed Tenochtitlan and laid waste to its ruins.
