The Android Fast Pair UI for setting up headphones matches iOS

Depending on the earbuds, setting up can be as easy as bringing a Bluetooth accessory closer to your Android phone. This has been made possible by the fast duo, which Google has updated in recent weeks to take after iOS.

Since the Fast Pair launched in 2017, the process has started with a standard instruction that includes a thumbnail of the device in question. Will appear at the top of your screen, a simple tap pair will start and then provide confirmation.

Google has tweaked the setup experience so now it offers a tall sheet from bottom to top. Your device’s name is centered, while a larger picture and a “Connect” button appear below. Once paired via Bluetooth, you have the option to continue “Setup” or “Close”.

Android’s new fast pair design, which was quietly unveiled in November, takes a lot after iOS and AirPods. The obvious advantage of this approach is that the new accessories in the pair should be a very popular event. Compared to the instruction, you can miss or swipe the sheet below.

Meanwhile, the experience at Google has improved. This UI appears when setting up a new fast pair of accessories with your phone for the first time. Android still uses a compact instruction to note the battery status (earbuds and case) of everything, while Apple prefers to bring the whole sheet to show the moment. Small alerts are also used to reconnect accessories, especially on phones and tablets already signed in to your Google Account.

With the introduction of Pixel Buds earlier this year, Google introduced a number of related features, including Find My Device integration, low battery alerts, and button customization.
