The 770 HP Shelby F-150 Super Snake is as crazy as it sounds

Ford has just announced a new version of its best-selling F-150. The Blue Oval will sell you an F-150 with a hybrid powertrain, on-board generator, or a sleeper cabin. The company offers six powertrains, class-leading towing, and more payload than anyone. But what they don’t offer is a 770 horsepower variant, which is why there is the Shelby American F-150 Super Snake.

Strictly speaking, of course, a truck like this doesn’t really need to exist. But absurd horsepower wars seem far from a ceasefire. In fact, soon you won’t even have to go to an outside company to get this kind of firepower. Ram will soon announce a Hellcat-powered Rebel TRX, while the F-150 Raptor will receive the 760-hp 5.2-liter supercharged V-8 from a Shelby GT500 in the next year or so.

However, that Raptor and TRX are for off-road racers. If you want shredding power for street tires, that’s where Shelby American steps in. And while we know the 770-hp version of the F-150 5.0 truck, low suspension, massive air intakes, and brake updates for some time, a new video from Throttle house shows what that looks like in motion.

As expected, the result is a noisy, sideways scene, smoky, of a muscle truck screaming around a closed loop. Clearly, Shelby American has taught the F-150 to drift, turning most of its 770 hp into noise and crushed rubber. It’s worth a look, as Throttle House does a good job of conveying the absurdity of the situation. Fortunately for us, the crazy prospect of the 700 hp pickup truck will clearly not die after Shelby American finishes its 250 examples of the F-150 Super Snake.
