While the iPhone 12 family is reported to have a similar design change to the iPad Pro 2020, Apple may be left with the same notch size as previous-generation models. This last information was found thanks to a new leak, which supposedly shows the screen of the iPhone 12 5.4-inch, revealing other interesting data.
New details show iPhone 12 may feature improved screen-to-body ratio
The images previously appeared on the Chinese micro-blogging website Weibo, where an individual named Digital Chat Station obtained them. At first glance, if you take a look at the supposed 5.4-inch iPhone 12 screen, the first thing you’ll notice is that notch. Yes, we noticed that too, and it appears Apple may be keeping the same size as the notch found on the iPhone 11, suggesting that the rumor mentioning smaller notches may not come true after all.
This means that while Apple wants its next line of iPhone 12 to look different from that of the iPhone 11 series, there are some aspects of the upcoming models that will share similarities with previous generation phones. However, one thing that will not be shared with the iPhone 11 family is the improved screen-to-body ratio that we noticed from this screen leak.
We’re not sure if this enhanced screen space will remain consistent when actual consumer units become available, but if it does, users will have a device with a smaller footprint that will provide them with more screen in return. However, one thing that doesn’t quite make it to all four iPhone 12 models is the use of 2.5D glass. This may mean that Apple will adhere to a flat glass design on the front and rear, possibly making all models much easier to grip and use.
Note that it is not confirmed whether this 5.4-inch iPhone 12 assembly will go into production, so it’s best to treat this leak with a pinch of salt for now. The latest update to the iPhone 12 launch talks about a presentation that will apparently take place during September, but the availability of these models could occur in October. If that happens and when we will, we will know more about the design and what these phones look like in real life, so stay tuned for more information.
