The 49ers cunningly troll the Saints as they deliver a useful COVID-19 message

It’s usually the NFC South build-up in the New Orleans Saints on Twitter.

On Thursday, an old NFC West rival got into the fun and relayed an important message along the way.

With the COVID-19 pandemic in California and across the country, the San Francisco 49ers posted a public service announcement on Twitter encouraging their followers to wear masks.

What better way to do it than to relive one of the best plays of the 2019 season? George Kittle’s monster catching and running down the Superdome sideline in December ended with the Saints’ defenders desperately clawing at Kittle to drag him to the ground.

And presented a perfect for a timely mask prank.

‘Be a saint’

Kittle’s play set the 49ers up for a behind win that threw the 49ers to No. 1 seed and a first-round goodbye in the playoffs. He also forced the Saints 13-3 to seed No. 3, resulting in a first-round playoff loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

It is a moment of pride for the 49ers. And an ideal platform to remind everyone that more people in masks help delay the spread of COVID-19.
