Terrence Ferguson made up his mind on Sunday afternoon. When he did, the Peach County High School All-American shared his college decision on his Instagram account first.
The decision spelled out a Crimson “A” laser script and an edition that marked the Alabama state line and the traditional catchphrase “Sweet Home Alabama.”
The 6-foot-4-inch, 310-pound 4-star prospect had decided to play for the Crimson Tide.
Ferguson had been a priority target for Georgia in the 2021 cycle. He had been to Athens many times. In the end, she decides to join an Alabama show that has picked up three elite offensive line prospects in the past few days.
The Crimson Tide added the Brockermeyer twins earlier this week. Those two brothers were legacies from Texas, but they also chose to play for Nick Saban.
Alabama now pairs those two, along with IMG Academy elite OT prospect JC Latham, with a peach from a Georgia OL.
Ferguson ranks as the nation’s No. 2 OG prospect and No. 47 overall recruit by 2021 in the 247Sports Composite ratings.
Ferguson now becomes Crimson Tide’s 15th class 2021 engagement. With the addition of Ferguson, it maintains Alabama’s ranking on the 247Sports Team Composite rating scale at No. 2 nationwide.
He is the fifth highest-rated recruit for the Alabama class so far. Saban and his staff have reclaimed commitments so far for a few targets Georgia was seeking in the 2021 cycle. Ferguson and South Florida pass corridor Dallas Turner also considered the UGA during various stretches of their recruitment.
Ferguson had even kept a video of one of Georgia’s first recruiting visits as his tweet pinned for some time. She also sported a graphic edition of UGA on her Twitter page the day she got engaged to Alabama.
Take a look at the Crimson Tide O-line class so far:
- Tommy Brockermeyer/ 5 stars OL / Nation’s No. 1 OT / No. 5 national overview
- JC Latham/ 5 stars OL / Nation’s No. 5 OT / No. 17 national overview
- Terrence Ferguson/ 4 stars OL / Nation’s No. 2 OG / No. 42 national overview
- James Brockermeyer/ 4 stars OL / Nation’s No. 1 C / No. 188 national prospectus
Georgia is also organizing a strong O-line class for the 2021 cycle. Look at the work so far for offensive line coach Matt Luke in 2021.
- Micah Morris/ 4 stars OL / Nation’s No. 9 OT / No. 57 national overview
- Dylan Fairchild/ 4 stars OL / Nation’s No. 9 OG / No. 133 national overview
Ferguson’s decision now supersedes the upcoming August 15 decision for Bleckley County 5-star OT Amarius Mims. Mims has always favored Alabama and Georgia for their eventual college choice. While Georgia signed four All-Americans among its seven-prospect offensive line class in 2020, the Bulldogs will continue to seek to add a future left tackle prototype in Mims and at least one other versatile guard-tackle hybrid type in this cycle.
Noah Josey, a 4-star OL from the state of Tennessee, is another name to pay attention to via the offensive line for the 2021 class in Athens.
