Four cats aboard a sinking ship are being cared for after sailors from the Royal Thai Navy rescued them in a dramatic rescue at sea this week.
According to the Royal Thai Navy, the country’s navy and coast guard responded to the site of a sinking fishing boat on Tuesday off the coast of Satun province on the southern tip of Thailand.

Eight crew members, three Thai and five Myanmar, have been rescued. While naval sailors were investigating the cause of the drowning and searching for a spray of oil, they found that the cats were still aboard the sinking ship, which was then also vert in the water and almost drowned after it was captured.
“I used my camera to zoom in on the boat, and I saw one or two cats popping their heads out,” First Class Petty Officer Wichita Pukdello told Reuters.

Photos shared by the Royal Thai Navy on Facebook show cats getting wet and scared together.
One of the sailors in more photos shows them wearing the vest of life and going out to swim to get the cats, giving the animals a safety ride that crawls over their shoulders. Other sailors pulled a rope to help carry the cats in their ship.
The Navy’s Facebook posts about the rescue “liked” more than 15,000 and received thousands of comments praising the sailors’ actions.

The boycotts took care of the cats at their base on the island Koh Lip. Navy photos In a photo shared on Facebook, the soldiers show the cats drying with towels and sitting at a table with a large bowl of cat food.
“All four cats are well cared for,” they wrote.
