Alabama has added a second four-star internal linebacker to its 2021 recruiting class.
Kendrick Blackshire, the highest-ranked linebacker in Texas, announced his commitment to Alabama on Tuesday night.
LSU and Texas A&M were the other two finalists for the 6-foot-2-inch, 245-pound Blackshire, which has been described as an old-school internal throwback.
The Duncanville, Texas, product is rated the 7th best inside linebacker and best overall prospect in the 2021 class, according to the 247Sports Composite ranking.
Tight head coach Jeff Banks has been the lead recruiter for Crimson Tide in Blackshire, who becomes Alabama’s No. 12.
Banks has been recruiting Blackshire since Blackshire’s freshman year of high school when Banks was still working at Texas A&M.
With Blackshire engaged, the Tide now has commitments from two of the seven best inside linebackers in the class. Deontae Lawson, who is ranked fifth-best linebacker in the 2021 cycle, became engaged to Alabama in December.
