A Texas couple feels more blessed after defeating COVID-19 and cancer. This time, they are now finishing their chemotherapy. Robert and Janice Beecham have been married for 46 years and still continue to live happily despite the problems they encountered in life.

Janice told the CNN News journalist that she is so happy to be alive because many people who have the same conditions with her did not survive. Imagine how painful it could be if you have breast and ovarian cancer while testing positive for COVID-19.

The couple said they had been strictly following the health and safety guidelines against COVID-19. More especially that Janice Beecham is vulnerable to the virus due to her current medical condition. However, Robert Beecham decided to be tested for the virus because he did not feel well for a week and a half.

She called her son on March 25 and agreed to be taken to the hospital. Robert Beecham said, “He knew that agreeing without a fight meant I was feeling pretty bad,” he was admitted to Parkland Hospital in Dallas alone while awaiting the result of this COVID-19 test.

A day later, the test result came in and they found it tested positive for the virus. He was moved to another floor to prevent the spread of the virus, and luckily, he began to recover as the day progressed. He thanked his doctor, Dr. Satyam Nayak, for his quick recovery.

Robert Beecham said that he and Dr. Nayak would open casual conversations that would help him not think about a conversation about the virus. Robert told his doctors about the two strokes he had in 2012 and 2016 that led him to miss one of his anniversaries.

After Dr. Nayak discovered how much Robert Beecham loves his wife, he used this to motivate Robert so that he could be with his wife on his anniversary and take him home. Dr. Nayak devised a plan where Robert could get home and receive the care he needs.

Fortunately Robert arrived home on April 15, which is the right time for his anniversary. However, this is not the only problem the couple encountered. Janice, his wife, tested positive for the virus she had just recovered from surgery in February due to breast cancer.

They also diagnosed him with ovarian cancer. In a CNN News report, he said he tested positive for the virus but his symptoms were mild. For patients like Janice who has the pre-medical condition, she is vulnerable to the virus.

Robert also shared that he quarantined when he got home and was recovering quickly. However, Janice was still having issues with her health at the time. Janice was also unable to start breast cancer chemotherapy again due to her new diagnosis.

Despite this, the couple remained positive in life. Janice and Robert Beecham have something to say after Janice survives from two surgeries, two punches for Robert, and his COVID-19 diagnoses. Robert said: “It would have been impossible to do it with all the odds against him without God, and He has been our help all these years.”
