Texas accident injures 12 members of the ‘Thin Blue Line’ motorcycle club, 3 fatally

Twelve members of the Thin Blue Line Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club were injured, three of them fatally, in a head-on collision on a Texas highway that involved a man who authorities said was drunk when he crossed a divider.

The Kerr County Sheriff’s Office said the group was traveling Saturday afternoon to celebrate the club’s birthday on Highway 16, just south of Kerrville, when someone crossed the central strip and ran into them.

“There were three deaths and nine members were rushed to the hospital in critical condition,” sheriff’s officials said. “The person who crossed the central strip has been arrested on several charges of intoxicated murder and assault.”

Local media quoted the sheriff’s office saying the person arrested was Ivan Robles Navejas, 28, of Center Point, Texas.

The cyclists killed were Joseph Paglia of Chicago, Jerry Wayne Harbor of Houstion and Michael White of Chicago.

Paglia was president of the club chapter in Chicago and was a retired Niles City police officer, Fox 29 San Antonio reported.

The club was holding a meeting in Bandera, Texas, for the Thin Blue Line Foundation, according to David Weed, a spokesman for the group.

“Several of our members had quietly traveled on motorcycles for lunch in Kerrville this morning before the meeting,” said Fox 29.
