Texans Offer Refund, Other Options for Ticket Holders

Texans have informed season ticket holders of their renewed refund policy and other ticket options that are targeting a season that is expected to be heavily affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

In an email, Texans told fans that they have the option to take a year off to purchase their season tickets without any financial obligation for this year. Texans would simply keep those tickets in their inventory and allow those fans to purchase tickets in 2021 with any current personal seat licenses. Any previous ticket payments would be credited toward the 2021 season.

Fans who use that option would receive a 10 percent credit for food, beverages, or merchandise at NRG Stadium.

Several NFL teams, including the New York Jets and Chicago Bears, offer similar options to season ticket holders.

Texans also offered the option for fans to keep their season tickets and wait for more information on social distancing guidelines at NRG Stadium.

“We hope this email finds you and your family safe and healthy,” the email said. “We have important information regarding your 2020 Texans season tickets. Due to the COVID-19 crisis and our commitment to our loyal season ticket members, we are offering all of our season ticket members an option for 2020:

If you want to keep your season tickets, you don’t need to do anything right now. Texans will continue to work with the NFL, state and local government officials to ensure that we have adequate policies and procedures for hosting games in 2020. It is our priority to create and manage the safest environment possible for our fans at NRG Stadium. We should have additional information later in July on how seats will be managed. “

In a move to try to make up for the loss of revenue with attendance expected to decrease significantly in games, the league plans to cover the front rows of stadiums with tarps to give more space between players and fans and create additional space for advertising.
