Tesla truck to cross country, says Elon Musk

Elon Musk said Tesla aims to make a “cross-country trip with Cybertruck later this year” for people to see the electric truck.

Since its introduction last year, Tesla Cybertruck has had only one other official public outing.

It has been on display at the Petersen Museum in Los Angeles since last week.

We went to see the prototype and published a gallery of images of the Tesla truck.

But only people in Los Angeles can see it in person, and Tesla is retrieving the Cybertruck prototype next week.

Now CEO Elon Musk says Tesla plans to take a trip across the country with the Cybertruck prototype later this year:

The last time Musk spoke about Tesla taking a trip across the country, it was to demonstrate Tesla’s latest autonomous driving software, but it was delayed multiple times and Tesla apparently gave up on the idea.

However, this time it appears Musk is planning to make the trip to show the Tesla truck to potential buyers.

Cybertruck’s design is quite polarizing, but many Tesla fans and truck buyers have gotten used to it, including myself.

Seeing it in person may also give a different impression than the images, and Tesla may be looking to give more people a chance to see it in person.

The Petersen Museum exhibit was a huge success: it sold out for the first week.

Tesla could win many reservation holders by showing the electric truck across the country.

However, it’s not that Tesla needs more reservations for the Cybertruck.

Musk announced that Tesla received more than 250,000 reservations for the Cybertruck within a week after the vehicle was unveiled.

Tesla stopped updating its reservation count, but other crowdsourcing-estimated counts put the total at between 450,000 and 500,000 Cybertruck reservations a few months after the unveiling.

Last month, another estimate put Tesla Cybertruck’s pre-orders at more than 650,000,

While Tesla’s stock on new vehicles generally declines after a few weeks of a presentation, Cybertruck appears to be different. It seems to maintain strong demand for reserves months after launch.

I think we could see a major boost in demand if Tesla takes the prototype to the Midwest and drives it through the region where the trucks are king.
