Wrote to employees in an email received by Tesla CEO Elon Musk Electric Tonight they are seeing tremendous demand, but the automaker needs to increase production quickly to make money on it.
As we reported earlier, Tesla is currently in the middle of its year-end delivery push as it aims to deliver a record number of vehicles this quarter to reach 500,000 deliveries by 2020.
To achieve this goal, the automaker needs to deliver 181,000 vehicles this quarter. It has more than 40,000 vehicles on record last quarter delivery.
A new email to employees received by ElectricMusk said Tesla now has a “high class problem” of over-production demand:
“We are fortunate that the problem of high-class demand is a bit more than this quarter’s production.”
The CEO said Tesla needed to increase production quickly this quarter in order to “earn the trust” of customers and investors:
“We need to increase production for the rest of this quarter as much as possible to ensure that we have the best results and earn the trust of customers and investors who have worked with us with confidence and hard work.”
This is the second time this month that Musk has spoken to employees about investor support following a big jump in Tesla’s share price.
Last week, the CEO wrote to employees in another email that he wanted to focus on Tesla profits or warn that the stock would fall like “souffle under a sledgehammer”.
Finally, in a new email today, Musk insisted that the only reason he asked them to increase production was that it was “really important” and suggested that anyone who sees ways to improve the product be contacted directly.

We are fortunate that demand in this quarter is slightly higher than the production of the upper-class problem.
To ensure we have excellent potential results and earn the trust of customers and investors who have earned trust and hard work with us, we need to increase production for the rest of this quarter as much as possible.
