After closing the Fremont factory due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Elon Musk complained, complaining about the location of the factory. Then he talked about new factory locations, specifically in Texas. This led to the search for a new factory, with benefits, to build the Cybertruck.
The place where Tesla would build the factory is known as the Austin Green development. Tesla has yet to buy the land, but now the company knows the benefits of building in Travis County, and other parts of the country that want the Tesla factory can decide what offers they would like to offer.
