A Tesla driver in North Carolina was watching a movie when he hit a police car, authorities said.
Devainder Goli used the car’s autopilot feature when the collision occurred Wednesday on US 64 near Spring Hope, Raleigh News and Observer reported.
Goli collided with the car of a Nash County Sheriff, who then hit the car of a state troop, authorities said.
The two officers responded to a previous crash on the side of the highway at the time.
No one was injured in the Telsa crash, although two of the cars were total, the outlet reported.
“Fortunately, the state trooper shot our deputy out of the way when he heard the ties drop and in an instant we could have lost a life or several lives. It could have been very horrible,” said Sheriff Keith Stone of Nash County against news station WRAL.
It was determined that Goli, a doctor at Halifax Regional Medical Center, saw a flash at the time of the incident, officials said. It was not immediately known which movie he was watching.
He was accused of violating the crossing law and watching a television set while driving, the report said.
