Tesla arrests O Reagan man after crashing nearly 100 miles, sends battery flying


CORVALIS – An Oregon man crashed a Tesla traveling at 100 miles per hour, while several hundreds of batteries from the vehicle smashed windows and started a fire as it landed in the dwellings. Police said they knocked down two trees and a telephone junction box under a power pole at the base. The collision caused batteries from Tesla to fall into a person’s lap and into a bed in a nearby residence, causing the bed to burn, police said. Hundreds of batteries used to power the vehicle were scattered in the crash, police said.

Police added that torn tires from the car also struck the side of a nearby apartment building with such force that water pipes in the wall burst and part of an apartment was destroyed.

Milon, 21, fled the crash site on foot and police arrested him about three blocks away, Elon said. Milota was taken to hospital for minor injuries and is facing charges of driving under the influence of marijuana, hit and run, criminal mischief, reckless driving and reckless endangerment, Eaton said.

Police urged residents to be aware of potentially dangerous batteries that may still be in the area of ​​the crash. Police said the berries caused the tree to burn, emit toxic fumes and leak harmful substances.
