Tesla acquires more land in Texas for future expansion, battery factory?

Tesla is acquiring more land in Stin, Texas for a future expansion – a potential battery factory?

After months of processing to get local government approval, Tesla announced in July that it had chosen a site outside Austin to build its next gigafactory in the US.

A lot has been said about the size of the piece of land.

2,000 acres of land is Tesla’s largest asset to date and offers some great potential for expansion.

However, we have now learned that Tesla is adding more properties closer to the site.

The Statesman of Texas reports that AutoTomeker acquired another 381 acres of land adjacent to the existing GigaFactory construction site:

“Moving forward at full speed with the development of its electric vehicle assembly plant in Southeast Travis County, Tesla recently purchased 381 acres next to its existing 2,100-acre site at Harold Green Road and Texas 130.” Deed records show.

The new piece of land increases Tesla’s total wealth, but it also enters a number of points from existing roads at the factory site.

Tesla is also looking at another piece of land nearby:

Tesla is also believed to be buying additional land in southeastern Austin, along the Tessas 130 Corridor, according to real estate developers familiar with the area.

The Tesla Gigafactory is expected to be more than just a Texas electric vehicle manufacturing facility.

On top of the vehicle’s production, Musk surprised many when he said that the Tesla gigafactory Austin Stein would also be an “ecological paradise” open to the public.

The CEO mentioned a boardwalk, hiking and biking trail and more.

With the announcement of Tesla’s battery plans, the maker toe manufacturer is also expected to deploy battery cell production capacity in the factory.

Moreover, Tesla has a chip and op topilot hardware team based in Aust Stein and recently, we reported that Tesla also plans to build a new video game and user interface team in Aust Stein.

It is not clear if Tesla plans to move to Gigafactory after completing that operation.
