Terrible tornado hit Alabama, leaving a path of destruction



More than 30 million Americans across the South faced it Fear of severe weather After hitting several deadly tornadoes in the area on Thursday. They sent sparks and debris flying to northeastern Alabama.

A major tornado hit Coveta County in Metropolitan Atlanta around midnight on Friday, signaling a tornado crisis in and around Newton City. No deaths were reported.

At least five people were killed Thursday in a storm in Calhoun County, northeast of Birmingham, Alabama. There are also reports of people being trapped in flat houses.

Most of Alabama was in a state of emergency as a large tornado struck a 50-mile stretch from Tuscaloosa to Birmingham early Thursday. Tornado and flash flood warnings have been posted in Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee and Georgia.

Strong winds blew the trees and sent them crashing down on the roof. The Eagle Point subdivision in Shelby County, Alabama has suffered the most damage in some. The torn roof revealed in the bedroom and drone footage that homeowners were bursting at the seams.

“It was scary,” said landlord Carol Willis. “The sound was amazing.”

Willis’ garage was damaged but his home was largely saved. She described the horrific hurricane-filled moments by her community.

“I was in the bedroom window, I looked outside and it started to get dark. I said, well I can get out of this room. I had metal trash. I said, well let me run to my utility room. I said she, trash. You can put my head up, just went there, I didn’t stop for more than two minutes. I came out and I saw all this. I couldn’t believe it, it went so fast. ”

The city of Pelham was also hit hard. Just 20 miles south of Birmingham, at least 14,000 people in the area are without power.
