Tennessee floods have left residents stranded in homes, on roads and prompted rescue: reports



According to reports, several people were trapped in rising water due to heavy flooding overnight in central Tennessee.

The accounts include reports from Emergency Responses that help people traveling in apartment complexes and on the way to flood-prone areas.

“Water is a very powerful, powerful thing and it doesn’t take much to steep your car,” commented Katie Morgan, chief meteorologist at Fox 17 in Nashville.

Heavy rain is expected to continue for several hours early Sunday, with warnings for Nashville, Franklin, Brentwood and Mount Juliet in effect until 4:30 p.m., according to a report from Nashville’s Tennessee newspaper. Other warnings were in effect until 7 p.m.

“Numerous roads, interstates and flooded houses are on, with the main flash flooding.” The National Weather Service wrote in a message. “Please stay home and don’t travel!”

On Saturday afternoon, significant damage was caused by a powerful storm in Lexington, Tennessee, the newspaper reported. A tornado warning was issued for the area but it was not immediately clear if the tornado really struck.
