Telegram adds support for video calls, bubbles of Android 11

Telegram has been built as one of the better messaging apps available today, and with its latest updates, the app gets two solid upgrades. In addition to the late arrival of video calls, Telegram also supports the best messaging feature of Android 11.

Telegram announced this week on its blog, and has confirmed that video clips are now available in alpha for all users on Android and iOS. The video call feature works through a user’s contact page and each call is protected by end-to-end encryption. To check this encryption, Telegram uses a string of four random emojis on each caller’s display. If they match, the call is completely safe.

For now, Telegram’s video call is not completely ready. It only works on mobile apps and currently only supports two-person calling. “In the coming months” group calls will be added to the app.

All video calls are protected with end-to-end encryption. To confirm your connection, compare the four emojis displayed on the screen for you and your chat partner – if they match, your call is over 100% secure through time testing encryption also used in Telegram’s Secret Chats and Voice Calls.

Video calls will get more features and improvements in future versions as we work towards launch group video calls the coming months. But for this medieval milestone, you can now enjoy a little one-on-one time with those closest to you, whether they are in another room or on another continent.

Besides, Telegram also adds support for the chat calls on Android 11. This new feature brings the “Chat Heads” popular through Facebook Messenger to more messaging apps than a native Android feature. At the moment, however, it is only available on a few selected apps. Telegram has been working on this functionality for a while, but in Telegram v7 some Android 11 beta users see the functionality on their devices as Android Police noticed and shared screenshots of.

However, this functionality is not yet ready for its full debut. The feature is still marked as unstable, and users who watch it live have usually found their experiences with it. Probably a factor as to why they’re doing so poorly.

If you want to try it for yourself and it does not appear automatically, go to Telegram settings, scroll to the bottom, double-click the version number, and then tap “Enable Enable Pet Bubbles” in the debug menu that appears.
