Teddi Mellencamp’s little daughter Dove will undergo neurosurgery for lambdoid craniosynostosis, the star of “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” revealed on Instagram on Monday.
According to St. Louis Children’s Hospital, lambdoid craniosynostosis refers to premature fusion of bones in a baby’s skull. It can cause problems with the child’s appearance and complications of brain development.
“I didn’t know if I should share this information, but as someone who tries to be as transparent as possible, and knowing that I have a platform to reach others in similar situations, I would like to update them all,” Mellencamp, 39, captioned a photo of her 4-month-old daughter’s face. “Our sweet baby Dove was diagnosed with lambdoid craniosynostosis and has to undergo neurosurgery at the end of the month.”
The Bravo star said doctors spotted him early.
Dove’s recovery period is expected to be “about a week in the hospital and a couple of weeks at home with a very high success rate.”
“So even though we are full of nerves because neurosurgery sounds terrifying, we have faith that she will be fine,” he concluded. “Please keep Baby Dove in your prayers and if you have had a child with this same surgery please let me know below as I would love any additional information and support.”
Mellencamp said he initially thought his daughter had a condition like older brother Cruz, who fought with Torticollis. According to KidsHealth.org, this condition can be treated with physical therapy and stretching exercises.
Mellencamp co-stars Lisa Rinna and Erika Jayne commented on heart emojis as show of support.
Reality star and husband Edwin Arroyave welcomed Dove in February after an unexpected pregnancy.
The couple are also the parents of Slate, a 7-year-old daughter, and Cruz, a 5-year-old son. Mellencamp is also a stepmother to Arroyave’s daughter, Isabella.
