“ I didn’t know if I should share this information, but as someone who tries to be as transparent as possible and knowing that I have a platform to reach others in similar situations, I would like to update them all.

“ Our sweet baby Dove has been diagnosed with lambdoid craniosynostosis and has to undergo neurosurgery at the end of the month.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star went on to say that she is grateful for an amazing team of doctors and surgeons who ‘caught this early.’

Teddi explained that they initially thought Dove had Torticollis, a condition in which the neck muscles contract and cause the head to twist to one side.

In a Instagram post Monday, the 39-year-old woman said she was hesitant to share the news that Dove has the rare condition of lambdoid craniosynostosis.

What is craniosynostosis?

Craniosynostosis is a rare problem in the skull that causes a baby to be born or develop an abnormally shaped head.

It is rare, affecting one in every 1,800 to 3,000 children. Three out of four cases affect children.

The irregular shape of the skull in craniosynostosis can cause persistent headaches, learning difficulties, eye problems, and other symptoms.

Craniosynostosis is the result of premature fusion of different sections of the skull.

This means that the skull cannot grow in the affected areas.

When one area of the skull is prevented from growing, other areas may ‘overgrow’ to compensate and limit the pressure that develops around the brain.

‘Originally, like Cruz before her, we thought Dove had Torticollis and would probably need a gang of doctors to remodel.

Instead, a CT scan showed lambdoid craniosynostosis (lambdoid craniosynostosis is a very rare type of non-syndromic craniosynostosis and occurs when one of the lambdoid sutures at the back of the head is fused before birth).

According to the Mayo Clinic, the condition can give a newborn’s head a “deformed appearance” and surgery is needed “to correct the shape of the head and allow normal brain growth.”

Teddi continued: ‘Recovery is approximately a week in the hospital and a couple of weeks at home with a very high success rate. So even though we are full of nerves, since neurosurgery sounds terrifying, we are confident that she will be fine.

The mother of three asked for prayers as she finished her note: ‘Please keep baby Paloma in your prayers and if you have had a child with this same surgery please let me know below as I would love any additional information and support. Sending [love] for all of you.’

After sharing the personal information, Teddi Bravo’s co-stars, including Lisa Rinna and Erika Jayne, showed their support in the comments.

Teddi welcomed Dove on February 25 and is also the mother of her seven-year-old daughter Slate and her five-year-old son Cruz with her husband Edwin Arroyave. Edwin also has his daughter Isabella from a previous relationship.
