Taylor Swift’s Folklore is in the pole position for a third consecutive week at No. 1 in the UK, although its challengers are not far behind.
Folklore is the most streamed album week in the first half of the chart cycle to lead the official Chart Update. Glass animals’ Dreamland (Polydor) is just 600 ticket sales behind in second place, and is the best seller of the week on physical formats, reports the OCC.
Dreamland would give the English psychedelic pop outfit her first Top 10, and meet the No. 23 highlight of her sophomore 2016 album How to be a human being.
Swift and the team at EMI pulled off a masterpiece last week by bringing the CD release forward Folklore, make sure the album Fontaines takes over DCs The death of a hero (Partisan) for the graphic crown. Fontaines’ second album slipped to no. 20, based on midweek data.
Heavy metal legends Deep Purple bow on no. 3 on the Chart Update with their 21st studio set Whoosh! (Earmuzyk). It is the most downloaded LP in the past three days, according to the Official Charts Company, and it is set to become their highest charting album for 40 years, since Deepest pear led the weekly survey in July 1980.
Also aiming for a Top 40 debut, the fourth Japanese language set from BTS, Map of the Soul: 7 – The Journey (EMI), which at no. 16 is after her release on CD.
A few albums celebrating their 30th anniversary are ready to take the chart again. Dance act The Beloved starts at no. 18 with anniversary edition of her debut Lok (New state), while Pixies’ re-release of Bossa Nova (4AD), her third album, is at no. 25.
Joel Corry and MNEK’s “Head & Heart” (Asylum / Perfect Havoc) remain on target for no. It’s topped the Midweek Leaderboard, ahead of Jawsh 685 and Jason Derulo’s “Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat)” (RCA) and Nathan Dawe & KSI’s “Lighter” (Atlantic), respectively.
The hottest start belongs to Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion, as their collaboration “WAP” at no. 5 opens on the official update of Singles Chart.
The Official UK Singles and Albums Charts will be released late Friday.
