Taylor Swift’s ‘Folklore’ begins quickly, over half a million units won in the US in the first three days


It has already passed the biggest week of 2020 for any album.

Taylor Swift’s new album Folklore It has obtained more than 500,000 equivalent album units in the United States in its first three days of release, according to initial reports from Nielsen Music / MRC Data. The set was released on short notice on Friday, July 24.

From those reports, Folklore in just his first three days, he already passed the oldest week 2020 for any album, captured earlier this month by the arrival of Juice WRLD’s Legends never die, which launched with 497,000 units in the week ending July 16. The last album to get at least 500,000 units in a week was Swift’s previous LP, Lover, which leaned to number 1 on the Billboard 200 list dated September 7, 2019, with 867,000 units earned in the week ending August 29, 2019.

Equivalent album units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA), and broadcast equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit equals an album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 official on-demand or paid-to-subscribe paid-for-subscription audio and video streams generated from songs on an album.

Folklore It is currently only available to purchase through Swift’s official web store or from digital retailers such as the iTunes Store. No information about a broader release in any physical format (CD, vinyl, etc.) has been announced to retailers outside of the Swift web store.

Swift’s web store is selling more than a dozen physical / digital album packs (with a CD, vinyl LP, or cassette, plus the digital album). All physical / digital packages deliver the digital version of the album at the time of purchase to the customer, while the physical version will be shipped to the customer later. Sales of such packages, where two formats of the same album are grouped together, are counted as one sale, and the album settings sold are determined by the first version of the album that is made to the customer.
