Taylor Swift releases bonus track The Lakes which may shed some light on her romance with Joe Alwyn

The ever-impressive Taylor Swift has released even more new music, following last month’s eight studio album Folklore.

The singer, 30, took to her Instagram on Tuesday to announce that the deluxe edition of the album is available to stream or download, and that it has a bonus track titled The Lakes.

And eagle-eared Swifties (as TS fans) were quick to point out that the new song apparently touches on the love feelings she has for her beau, actor Joe Alwyn, unlike much of the rest of ‘ the Folklore, which focuses on heartbeat.

Swift, whose previous romances have added nourishment since she came on the scene as a teen country star, has been rumored to be private about her relationship with Joe, 29, but with The Lakes that may have changed.

With lyrics like, ‘Take me to the lakes where all poets die | I do not hear and, my dear, neither do you Those Windermere peaks look like a perfect place to cry | I quit, but not without my muse, ‘Taylor seems to be singing about her private time with Alwyn.

Windermere is certainly a reference to England’s largest natural lake in the famous Lakes District, and since the couple has spent a lot of time together in the UK, the passage can simply refer to their private time in the countryside.

Other texts seem to refer to how much they value their privacy and shake those who would enter it:

” And I just want to get here | A red rose grew on ice-frozen ground | With no one around to tweet it ‘as’ I’m not wiped out for all these cynical clones | These hunters with mobiles. ‘

Another passage goes, ‘I have come too far | To view some name-dropping sluices | Tell me what my Wordsworths are, ‘that sounds both like a jab and a reference to famous English poet William Wordsworth.

To accompany the drip of The Lakes, Taylor posted both a shaky photo on her Instagram and a new lyrical video on her YouTube account, made up of a series of slow-panned photos of heather and shrubs typical of the British Isles.

The prolific Swift speaks to The Lakes as far back as three weeks ago, when she posted the tracklist for Folklore and identified it as a bonus track.

She also announced that the album, her eighth studio album, will feature eight deluxe CD editions, as well as eight deluxe vinyl editions, each with unique covers, photos and artwork available one week.

And while The Lakes does seem to refer to her romance with Alwyn, which began in late 2016 or early 2017, it is by no means the first reference Swift has made to the accomplished actor in her music.

Although it seems like eons ago that Taylor Lover, her seventh studio album, was released last August, fans of that album remember the baby track London Boy as a direct celebration of her link with Alwyn.

‘You know I love a London boy,’ she sings on that track, of North London-born Alwyn. ‘I enjoy walking the afternoon with Camden Market | He loves my American smile | Like a child like our eyes meet, dear, I love you ‘.
